Flushing liquid is supplied to the stuffing box from an external source of clean liquid. Attention should be paid to select the proper seal flushing liquid in order to preclude evaporation of the supplied (injected) liquid and to avoid contamination of pumped liquid by the supplied (injected) flushing liquid.
